You've probably heard of juice cleanses, or maybe even tried one yourself. The premise is simple: replace all food and drink (with the exception of water and the chia seeds we provide you) with cold pressed juices made from combinations of fruits, vegetables, and probiotics. You do this for a set period of time (typically ranging from 3 to 10 days) in order to "reset" your body and give it a break from digesting solid foods. This can help eliminate toxins, improve digestion, boost energy levels, help with the functions of organs like the liver and kidneys, and more. In fact, many people feel so good after a juice cleanse that they can’t wait to do the next one! But let's not get ahead of ourselves; you're here because you want to learn what it's like to be on a juice cleanse—what you'll eat/drink each day, how you'll feel physically and mentally, etc. So, without further ado here is what you can expect on The Experienced 5 day juice cleanse diet:
Each day you will drink 6 nutrient dense raw, cold pressed juices in this order, spaced 2-3 hours apart:
Greens 101
Radiate
Greens 201
Majik
Activate
Greens 301
Day 1: Cravings and Fatigue
At the start of the juice cleanse you may experience cravings, likely for junk food, which can be intense. This is a body detox cleanse, so you may also experience fatigue and headaches. This is normal as your body flushes out toxins from your system during this process. The more you cleanse, the less likely it is that you will experience these effects. If you are just starting out, we recommend getting plenty of rest! Listen to your body and relax—try not to engage in any strenuous activity at this time. For optimal results, time your cleanse with this in mind!
Day 2: Mood Fluctuation
On the second day of your cleanse, you may experience mood swings and potentially even some increased fatigue. Again, this is a result of detoxing. When toxins are being released it has all kinds of effects on the body, so try not to take any feelings personally. In a relationship? It might be a good idea to give your partner a heads up.
Here our best piece of advice is to drink plenty of water, more than the daily recommended intake of 2 litres per day, and avoid working out while you're on this diet plan.
Day 3: Energy Boost
Day 3 of the 5 day juice cleanse diet is when many people begin to feel an energy boost. As your body becomes accustomed to functioning without unhealthy sugars and caffeine, you will begin feeling more energized due to the influx of nutrients.
Cold pressed juices are a healthy alternative to unhealthy caffeine sources as once your body has gone through detox mode you will have a significant energy increase that allows you to do more throughout the day. You'll feel more alert, focused and motivated!
Day 4: Better Sleep
By now, you are probably feeling more energetic during the day and less stressed. The combination of juicing and cleansing can help you sleep better.
Day 5: Feelin’ Good!
By Day 5 of your juice cleanse, you should be feeling pretty good. You've likely lost initial weight and are getting healthier. Your energy is up, your mood is better and you're feeling a little more positive about life.
This is the day when your body will start to return to normal functioning, as it has been detoxifying all week. The good news is, toxins have been filtered out of the bloodstream by your liver and kidneys, but there are still some toxins that your kidneys and fat cells are working to break down which can cause bloating, but this typically subsides within 24 hours.
Day five is also when many people experience renewed motivation for exercise due to increased energy levels from consuming so many fruits and vegetables during their juice cleanse diet (just make sure not overdo it!) Others have reported that their skin has less blemishes and became smoother thanks to drinking lots of water throughout the week and all of the micronutrients found in JOOS.
If you are brand new to juicing, we suggest starting with the best 3 day cleanse for beginners, our Newcomer cleanse. This way your body can get used to the change in diet, the detoxing, and the influx of new nutrients. The Experienced cleanse, while still good for beginners, contains more nutrient dense, and less sweet juices that might overwhelm a first timer. Any of our cleanses can be done for as short or as long as you want based on your experience and comfort level, but if you really want to get the most out of The Experienced cleanse, we recommend no shorter than 3 days.Comments will be approved before showing up.
