Juice Cleanse

August 26, 2020

In the last post, we talked about fasting and immune system regeneration. We asked, if fasting can initiate cellular renewal of the immune system, can it aid the body in cellular clean-up and regeneration of other body organs and systems? And how does drinking organic cold-pressed juice help?

The body is already equipped with detoxification mechanisms that are constantly humming. Think liver. But in an environment where we are constantly exposed to various forms of toxic pollution, from the foods we consume to the water we drink, from the exhaust fumes we breathe to the petrochemical make-up and skin cream products that are absorbed through our skin, the body’s detoxification mechanisms are stressed out! It’s a vicious cycle because these external stressors increase the body’s internal stress response systems and keep them activated for a really long time. We see this every day in the form of premature aging and illness!

Short-term fasting gives the body a break and allows for body systems to re-regulate. In the previous post, we mentioned that the body’s adaptive energy conservation mechanisms are activated and stem cells are triggered to generate new blood cells and strengthen the immune system. A similar response occurs all throughout the body in what is called “apoptosis”. Apoptosis is literally cell suicide. When the body is calorically restricted, there is a clean-up of damaged or sluggish tissues whereby older cells undergo apoptosis and new cells replace them. This is especially important in tissues that have accumulated toxins from every variety! It is understood that the body’s natural response is to store toxins in fatty tissues as a means of protecting all other body tissues and organs. Weight gain appears to be another adaptive response for protection against our toxic environment!

Why drink organic cold-pressed juice during your fast? Organic raw juice is equipped with a high dose of micronutrients, protective phytonutrients and antioxidants. Raw juice also contains live enzymes to help with overall digestive repair and gut health. Organic raw juices are so easily absorbed by the digestive system that these nutrients are up-taken by cells all throughout the body that they are very often denied of and these important chemical structures improve cell function to optimal levels. Understand that if you can easily absorb a high dose of nutrients and have them quickly delivered to all cells of the body, these cells will have just feasted on the best food you can ever give them! The body’s natural detoxification mechanisms will have a significant helping hand and you’ll be able to excrete much more toxin accumulation. Next up, we’ll talk about chia seeds and how they are helpful at pulling excreted toxins from the body so stay tuned!

The body is seriously amazing! A study published in the journal, “Cell Stem Cell” (http://www.cell.com/cell-stem-cell/home) has identified the benefits that fasting has on the immune system. Hematopoietic stem cells (stem cells that give rise to all other blood cells including leukocytes otherwise known as white blood cells) are awoken from a dormant state to an active…
